Select "Set up as new device" on the device itself during the setup process after the device is restored. Do not select "Set up as new iPhone" or "Restore from this backup" on iTunes yet. Jailbreak your device. Open up Cydia for the first time to allow it to "prepare the filesystem". Wait for the respring to happen. Start iTunes again and select "Restore from this backup" to get everything back on there. The main problem with using iCloud is that I can't figure out a way to trigger an iCloud restore after you get past the initial setup screen if you decide not to restore from a backup on the setup screen. After you restore from the iTunes backup, your device will continue to back up to iCloud anyway as well." |
