How to fix some mysterious problems.

I have an Iphone 4 (GSM) currently using IOS 4.3.3 - jailbroken and want to update it to 5.1 i have the SHSH saved locally and remotely-cydia servers. I have tried the following: I downloaded the 5.1 IPSW and using Redsn0w have created custom IPSW with the 5.1 SHSH. when attempted to restore using Itunes (iphone in DFU), it gives me a different error every time, 21 and sometimes 1006. i have also edited the windows host file to disable host. this has not helped either.

Can i use [Redsn0w -> Extra -> Select IPSW] and then [jailbrake] with that custom IPSW and by doing so that will upgrade my iphone? Or Is there any step I'm missing?

you need SHSH to restore 5.1 or any other ipsw apple no longer signs.

OP, Why do you want 5.1? 5.1 is tethered. The 6.x untether should be out soon. You should upgrade to 6.1. (Use a custom firmware if you require an unlock)
