You are most likely still on warranty right?

Are you planning to bring it to an Apple Store or call Apple Care or so ?

If you or them need to restore the phone, there'll be no trace of JB.

However, should they discover phone has been JB, if the issue is NOT related to the JB, they might just service as well.

They might just service as well even if they impute the issue to the JB.

Guess you noticed the keyword in the above sentences.

Best thing if you can is to restore the device as a new one.

And go from there.

Hope this helps,

eYe

If you don't want, that apple knows of your jailbreak: turn off the automatically sending of the crash reports and restore before you visit the apple retail store.

Apple may deny service if iOS is JB.

  • From the terms and conditions you accepted while never read.

This being said, one of the biggest quality of Apple, as a company, is that they really care about their customer's satisfaction; the very least would say some, considering the price they sell...

So, that's why they might still, and they do more often than the contrary, it's just that people don't have the guts upfront to go there with a JB device, but they do service more often than you would think JB devices.

As of do they know while we're using them if our devices are JB, I don't think so, as mentionnend here as a comment, if your iThing do not send Apple crash reports automatically, they have basically no way to know.

However, they just got this new tech patented: they'll be able, without your conscent nor your knowledge, to wireless prevent you from using your iDevice's camera if you are within a particular geographic area, a concert for instance, so you cannot take illegal pictures of the band...

Scary huh ?

And a jailbreak tweak can yank the code that does the scary stuff right out of the software. Pwned.

And that's one of the reasons why we JB our iStuff.

Much appreciated!

You can just restore in iTunes to remove the jailbreak and Apple will then fix faults.

you can always dfu + restore your devices, if they won't boot and restore it's unlikely apple will find out.

I seriously wouldn't trust a few answers on yahoo. It's anecdotal at best and possible complete lies at worst.

No, he's onto us, stop pretending. The plan won't work anymore. @pierre21, don't jailbreak.

I've heard that Apple knows if you've jailbroken if not even if you restore, but if you restore, they will still service you. So as long as you don't bring in a jb device you should be okay. That's what I heard, don't know how truthful it is

Sometimes they will still help if the device is jailbroken.

I've had no trouble with servicing jb'ed devices at my local apple store.

Apple could find rests of jailbreaking data on your storage, but that would be illegal of apple. It's agains oft the data rights of the owner. You just have to do the two steps I posted above ;)

Can I just ask if anyone here has tried bringing a jailbroken product that was restored using iTunes back to apple for a repair? Did they give any issues?
