How to fix some mysterious problems.

Can I take 6.1 blobs and stitch them into a 6.1 ipsw so I can restore without using Apple's servers after their servers are DDoS'ed when the jailbreak is released? I know the re-restore trick and such doesn't work on 6.1, but I'm not sure if there are any restore loopholes found, so I figured I'd ask here. Can I stitch 6.1 blobs into a 6.1 ipsw and restore using just that, or does that trick not work on iOS 6.1?

I should probably mention I'm working with an iPhone 4S AND an iPhone 4. So I have one limera1n device and one A5 - can this be done on either, both, or neither?

I believe redsn0w still contacts Apple's servers, otherwise it would be bypassing the need for blobs and we could restore any version. I would grab the ipsw files now, then restore after the jailbreak, or just before it, if you can time it right. Hopefully the servers won't be totally slammed.

Looks like that's what I'm going to have to end up doing. Thanks.

Update: redsn0w officially said "Stitching is not supported for this IPSW". So it looks like I won't be doing any stitching for 6.1. Oh well.

redsn0w says that the 6.1 IPSW does not support stitching, so it looks like this won't be a viable option after all. I thought as much, but I also had hoped that a recovery/restore loophole had been found on 6.1. Oh well. I'll just restore to the downloaded IPSW when it's time.

Thanks for reporting back, I was going to test it on my ipod. I think I will do that, but to 5.1.1 with redsn0w, while offline, just to know for sure if redsn0w needs Internet.
EDIT: It worked, while offline. This is a surprise. xD

Thanks. Let me know.

Hmm...I wonder if it would accept my iPhone 4 (6.1) IPSW. I doubt it, since it hasn't been updated to explicitly allow it.

Just tried 6.1 on my iPod4, it worked (offline), so iPhone 4 should work too.

Thanks for sharing! I'll try on my iPhone 4 tomorrow.

Rerestore to 6.1 with bb prevention worked on my iP4. Recovery fix didn't work though, had to use jailbreak to kick out of recmode.
