Pangu provides an iOS 9.0 untethered jailbreak. TaiG provides an iOS 8.4 and 8.3 untethered jailbreak.
Check @PanguTeam, @taig_jailbreak, @saurik, and /r/jailbreak for news and updates.
You can use Cydia Impactor if you need to un-jailbreak an 8.1-8.4 device without restoring.

Hello everybody, asking myself what to do with ipad first generation. still running on jailbreaked 5.1. can I upgrade iapd 1 on 6.1 as well an then using jailbreak coming on sunday? greetings

5.1.1 is the latest for first generation iPad, it's an orphan/retired device at this point.

At any time you can restore it to 5.1.1 and jailbreak it again, but it will never run iOS 6.x

iPad 1 doesn't support iOS 6(.X) so you wont be able to update

Evasi0n jb wont be able to jb your iPad, so i don't see why you would restore it. Are you sure you want to do it?

But Absinthe2 will be able to jailbreak an iPad 1 on iOS 5.1.1
