How to fix some mysterious problems.

I have an iphone 3GS unlocked with Cydia etc.I tried to update the phone and it de-activated. I have now had it activated again and am being sent the factory unlock coed by Orange. However,Im told that while Cydia is still on my phone it will cause problems for me and the unlocking. Is this correct? If so do I use unlock codes before or after removal? Many thanks

I think you should restore your device.

Tried restoring phone twice. Gets right to the end of process then says cant activate. Then I have to pay to activate again.Thats why Im paying Orange for the factory unlock. Will not activate aapparently unless the priginal sim card is in the phone

No, cydia won't causing a problem on your iPhone, you just need deactivate before connecting it to iTunes to activate the unlock. After that, everything is set up.
