Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

evasi0n7 can jailbreak iOS 7.0-7.0.6 untethered. p0sixspwn can jailbreak iOS 6.1.3-6.1.5 untethered (see here for 6.1.6).
How to jailbreak iOS 7.0-7.0.6 (and fix problems). iOS 7.1.x is not jailbreakable, except an unsupported tethered iPhone 4 jailbreak.
Restoring or updating will update your device to iOS 7.1.1 and remove your jailbreak. There is no way to downgrade from iOS 7.1.x to 7.0.x.

Sync, backup and then restore, so you won't loose any of your data

Plug into iTunes and backup and then restore. You can then install the 6.x jailbreak.

If I don't restore? I don't want to lose my apps...

They said people who update via OTA have had complications with the jailbreak. So they suggested you do it through iTunes. Make sure you back up.

It's best to restore via iTunes. Use the backup feature of iTunes so that you won't lose your apps or data.

No one has given a clear answer on if it is possible to jailbreak if you did an OTA update on you iphone 5 .. I honestly don't think anyone knows if it is possible to do . If you back up to iTunes and then restore , technically you are backing up the 6.1 OTA patch and then restoring it ... I don't understand why everyone is saying to do this . I would imagine you would need your 6.0.1 or 6.0.2 shsh blobs and then downgrade and then upgrade via connected to iTunes .

If you backup and restore via iTunes after you did an OTA, it does not restore the OTA. The backup does not include the OS. OTA is a delta (changes only) update where iTunes will be a full version update. Doing it through iTunes is the preferred method, as the OTA has caused problems when trying to downgrade as we learned from 5.1.1 re-restore process. It is possible that this issue can carry over to 6.1, but no one is sure yet. Using iTunes is just a little bit of insurance for the future.
