Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

iOS 9 and 8.4.1 do not have jailbreaks. You can use Cydia Impactor if you need to un-jailbreak an 8.1-8.4 device without restoring.

All we know is that one of the jailbreakers has recommended this: "If you people plan to upgrade to iOS 6.1 please don't do an OTA upgrade. Please make a full restore using iTunes."

Yes, you should follow his advice.

An OTA update will still be jailbreakable but it will not be restorable.

When 6.1 is no longer signed and if another restore hack is found it will require the ramdisk from an iTunes restore, not OTA update.

If you want any chance of a possible (not guaranteed) downgrade in the future, don't use OTA.

The problem is that the SSH blobs that are received when doing it via OTA are different from those that are done via an iTunes update. The problem the team is having is not being able to test what process will work so they're suggesting that everyone does it via iTunes to save any future problems.
