Will there be an ultrasn0w update? Will there be a way to unlock iPhone 4s/5?

I am in a situation where I have an iPhone 4s sitting unused because it is a verizon phone and I am on at&t =(.

you'll never be able to use a Verizon phone on ATT.

I don't think thats true. If I factory unlock it I would be able to.

From what I'm told CDMA phones (verizon or sprint) are locked twice. Carrier locked and region locked. Even if you were able to unlock the GSM side of the 4S it will not work the US.

so jailbreaks and ultrasn0w wouldnt change those?

(30 Jan '13, 20:11) andy64 andy64's gravatar image

No, and Ultrans0w will not be updated to support the 4S/5. The last device it unlocked was the iPhone 4 in July '10

In cydia there have been other people that have made it compatible with ios 6

(30 Jan '13, 20:21) andy64 andy64's gravatar image

Compatible with IOS 6 yes, but it supports the same basebands of the same devices it did in 2010. Nothing new has been added.

The question has been closed for being "About future unlock/jailbreak" by spockers, 30 Jan '13, 20:23

Chances are No especially since that new law came into place (In the US). You could always use an IMEI unlock official or not.

That is awful news. IMEI unlocks for Verizon are $100.

Maybe you should have gotten a phone that's not locked to a carrier you don't want to use? It's kind of like buying a car that runs on diesel, with only gasoline available.
