I have an old bootrom 3GS that I jailbroke and unlocked for TMo. It is currently running 5.0.1. I tried to downgrade the BB a couple of times and thought I had bricked the thing both times, eventually getting back to where I had started, just a little shaken by the whole affair. I jailbroke the device so I could unlock it before AT&T started unlocking the devices for their customers. I don't really care about having it jailbroken, I just need to use in on TMobile. I am still friends with the person whom I bought the phone from. I'm sure they would ask AT&T to unlock the device for me. I am too scared to try to downgrade the baseband again, and all I'd really like to do is upgrade to iOS6 and regain location services. If AT&T officially unlocks the device for me can I simply upgrade it to iOS6 and will the baseband upgrade to something else or do I really have to downgrade the baseband first (which I've already proven myself incapable of). |

If it's currently on the iPad (6.15) baseband, you need to downgrade it, otherwise GPS isn't going to work. Restoring to stock iOS 6 will not change the iPad baseband, it will just corrupt it and make it completely unusable until you downgrade it. That's what I was afraid of. Thank you for saving me. I think I'll just be stuck at 5.0.1 for the time being... Why not downgrade the baseband? GPS won't work until you do. If you have issues, come over to the live chat and we'll walk you through it. |
