I have an old bootrom 3GS that I jailbroke and unlocked for TMo. It is currently running 5.0.1. I tried to downgrade the BB a couple of times and thought I had bricked the thing both times, eventually getting back to where I had started, just a little shaken by the whole affair. I jailbroke the device so I could unlock it before AT&T started unlocking the devices for their customers. I don't really care about having it jailbroken, I just need to use in on TMobile. I am still friends with the person whom I bought the phone from. I'm sure they would ask AT&T to unlock the device for me. I am too scared to try to downgrade the baseband again, and all I'd really like to do is upgrade to iOS6 and regain location services. If AT&T officially unlocks the device for me can I simply upgrade it to iOS6 and will the baseband upgrade to something else or do I really have to downgrade the baseband first (which I've already proven myself incapable of). |
If it's currently on the iPad (6.15) baseband, you need to downgrade it, otherwise GPS isn't going to work. Restoring to stock iOS 6 will not change the iPad baseband, it will just corrupt it and make it completely unusable until you downgrade it. That's what I was afraid of. Thank you for saving me. I think I'll just be stuck at 5.0.1 for the time being... 1
Why not downgrade the baseband? GPS won't work until you do. If you have issues, come over to the live chat and we'll walk you through it. |
