How to fix some mysterious problems.

When the untethered Greenpois0n was released, I updated from 4.1 to 4.2.1 and rejailbroke, but after I did, I could no longer log into my gmail account from the mail app. I tried restoring it to stock iOS, but I still couldn't log in. I brought it to the genius bar, and they did a DFU restore, which got it working. However, when I brought it home and restored my iPhone backup and jailbroke it again, the problem came back. Every time I try to set up a gmail account, it says the server imap.gmail.com isn't responding

Try the jailbreak without doing an restore from iTunes, just to test. There may be a corrupted setting somewhere.

Yeah I was going to suggest that. gmail works fine for me, and I have imap enabled.

Yep, definitely nothing related to Gmail or IMAP directly. Mail is the single flakiest component of iOS, IMHO...

I did that, and it worked. I DUF restored, jailbroke again, and everything was fine. Interestingly though, after that I did the iTunes restore on top of it, and it still worked.
