I ran into the fast battery draining problem when upgrading from iOS 4 to 5.1.1 on the iPhone. The culprit was iTunes backup/restore process between version 4 and 5. I did a search on google and people recommended to do a reset all settings, but that didn't help me at all. The work-around for me was to use iFunbox to backup and restore what I need.

Anyway, this was my experience with iPhones. You have an iPod, but the problem "maybe" related. I'm not sure if you can restore your iPod to 5.1.1 with a saved SHSH or not.. If you can, try not to do an iTunes restore to see if the problem persists. Good luck
