Error 3194 means iTunes didn't get confirmation from Apple that you may install that version. iOS 6.0.1 is the latest firmware for the 3GS, so you should be able to do that officially. What your problem probably is, is that you ran TinyUmbrella, which modifies the hosts file, so that you don't accidentally upgrade. Run TinyUmbrella again, go to Advanced tab and un-check the checkbox "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit". Then close TinyUmbrella and go to iTunes and do a clean restore. That should work.

thank you for answering. when I go to uncheck the "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit" box it is greyed out and unchecked. I left "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit" box and I closed tiny umbrella and then tried to restore the iphone with itunes and it gave me error 3194 again. What can I do to restore the iphone with ios 6.0.1 on itunes?

I finally got rid of the 3194 error in iTunes by editing the host file and checking where points to in a browser, however now I get error 1602 again. I tried changing usb ports, usb cables, restarting computer and I still get error 1602 in itunes when I try to restore. This iPhone 3gs does not power on, unless connected to an ac adapter. If you disconnect from ac adapter it turns off. When connected to ac adapter, the phone finds itself in recovery mode and the screen says connect to iTunes. How can I fix this phone?

I tried restoring on another computer and got error 2001 on iTunes. Here is a video of what happens when you plug it into an ac adapter:

Your battery is toast, or something else is dead. It's definitely hardware, and we can't fix that.

i just read up on how to check the iPhone hardware and checked the liquid contact indicators and the liquid contact indicator in the dock connector has been activated. The one in the headphone jack has not been activated. How can I fix this problem?
