Pangu provides an iOS 9.0 untethered jailbreak. TaiG provides an iOS 8.4 and 8.3 untethered jailbreak.
Check @PanguTeam, @taig_jailbreak, @saurik, and /r/jailbreak for news and updates.
You can use Cydia Impactor if you need to un-jailbreak an 8.1-8.4 device without restoring.

If you still have iOS 3.1.2 on your ipod 1g, I believe that www.jailbreakme.com will still jailbreak that for you though. You run it from your safari on your ipod and just type that url in the address and follow the instructions. Unless you have updated past that which I dont know what iOS past 3+ will even run on an iPod 1g. :) And hopefully you followed Gomang's advise and you got it back and working in general :)

The iPad Touch 1G isn't supported by greenpois0n.

If you are "frozen" just hold the home + power buttons at the same time for about 12 seconds.

Let go of both, then hold just the power button, and the device should start up again.
