Hi, I need help. I suspect that my iphone is dead, but I thought I'd ask the question here as a last resort. So here's what happened. My 3GS was jailbroken using redsn0w when I moved from Ireland to the UK, it was at version 5.1 at it's last update (I went from Vodafone to O2 hence the jailbreak). Anyway, I accidentally let iTunes upgrade it to the lastest software update, now no matter what I do I can't get it back working properly. When I try and downgrade the software, I run into an error on the phone - "Transferring control to jailbreak...dyld: code signature for shared cache failed with errno=7". I get this when I deselect the 'install cydia' option before jailbreak. When I select 'install cydia' and the ipad option it just stops of the loading page in redsn0w and stays that way. I can't get itunes to do anyting either cos it keeps telling me there's no sim card in it, despite the fact that there is! I'm at the point of throwing the iphone in the bin at this stage. But before I do, has anyone got any solutions that I haven't trued yet??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should check to see what SHSH versions you have on file. Also check your bootrom version. There is a good write up here: www.restoreville.com for restoring to an iOS version outside of Apple's allowed period. iOS 5.1.1 would be ideal for now. Good luck an best wishes!
