How to fix some mysterious problems.

Right here's the story guys.

I jailbroke my iPhone 3gs which was no problem at this time I was told not to update it on itunes as it can give you a few problems. So when the iOS 6 came out I totally forgot about that little advice and like the idiot I am I updated my jailbroke 3gs and it has been chaos!

At the moment it brings me to the set up of the 3gs and I go through the language, location, wifi then it stops when it tries to activate by saying 'Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily is unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support at'

I've tried using redsn0w but still nothing with that and I tried using tiny umbrella but nothing, i've literally tried everything I have seen on the internet! Anymore suggestions guys? This is driving me insane!

Thats because you restored stock ios 6 on a phone with the ipad baseband. Cant reflash or downgrade it on 6.0 so you'll need to downgrade to do that. Depending if you have shsh or not is what to downgrade to. If no shsh all the way back to 4.1 for you since apple is still signing 4.1 on 3gs's

redsn0w was an option that shows your SHSH and creates a Stitched IPSW.

Oh yeah I have them like 'iPhone2,1_4.0.1_8A306_Restore' 'iPhone2,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore' 'NO_BB_iPhone2,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore'

If that's right?

No actually that's not. Open redsn0w, click extras, SHSH blobs, Then click Stitch. Place your device in DFU mode and click Cydia. It'll show you your SHSH blobs.

I opened redsn0w, extra, SHSH blobs, Stictch then you couldn't click cydia so i clicked IPSW and selected 'iPhone2,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore then cydia, is that right?

(27 Sep '12, 17:07) dannyake dannyake's gravatar image

It says it's made an IPSW for me if that's correct?

(27 Sep '12, 17:09) dannyake dannyake's gravatar image

What do I do with this stitched IPSW?

(28 Sep '12, 14:07) dannyake dannyake's gravatar image

The stitched iPSW should be in the same directory as the original iPSW. Open redsn0w, click extras, then PWNed DFU mode. Follow the onscreen instructions. Afterwards open iTunes, it should say your device is in recovery mode, press ok. Hold shift and select restore. A dialog should open, select the Stitched iPSW and let it restore.

If you set up anything to prevent communicating with Apple (say in the Windows HOSTS file) that could also trigger this. Every time I try to upgrade, I end up spending a couple of days figuring out what I need to remove in order to get it to work correctly. You also need to update iTunes, and earlier versions won't work with it.
