How to fix some mysterious problems.

I'm flirting with the idea of sending my iPhone in for service (really flaky wifi still, I think the PCB may need to be reflowed) but it's on the iPad baseband. I don't want to downgrade- just spoof the baseband firmware version number. Is there any way to do this?

No, you cannot spoof the baseband or edit the system settings to make it look like you have a different baseband. If this were to happen, people could really screw others over when selling used iPhones. Just unistall all your cydia stuff and cydia itself, then clean restore the phone if you plan to take it in for service. Just hope that the genius rep or service rep doesn't know a whole lot about jailbreaks and unlocks.

Even were it possible to spoof in the About Screen, I'm sure the Apple techs have an app to communicate directly with the hardware that would find you out. =)
