I have exaxtly the same problem. I was restoring, and i couldnt. At 30 x 100 it stopped restoring, and now i cant turn the device on. I´ve tried to reboot it using tinyumbrella but it doesnt work, and the computer doesnt seem to recognize the device, except for if i try to do the jailbreak again. But i do it, it ends up, and same bucle; Apple logo, greenpoison logo, greenpoison logo with a time wheel, and apple logo again. Any ways to restore it?? Im reaaly scared

How do you correct the problem?

Greenpois0n does nothing to the hosts file. TinyUmbrella will, however. The real question is, are you trying to preserve your baseband or not? If you don't care about preserving it, you need to find your hosts file ("/etc/hosts" on a Mac, or "Windows\System 32\drivers\etc\hosts" on a PC). Then go through the file and put a # in front of any lines with ""

i'm not worryed about the base band. i have two host files one just says hosts and the other says host.umberalla both have the the # followed by an ip address in front of the do i need to delete the host.umberalla to make it work correctly or something else?

If they are preceded by a hash (#) then you don't need to delete them, they will be ignored. Deleting them will have the same effect, though.

one didnt but i added the hash in front of it. will that work to?

(14 Feb '11, 15:51) IcMan IcMan's gravatar image

Yes. That will cause the line to be ignored. Just be sure to edit the file with administrative permissions, otherwise you cannot save.

Are you getting an error like this?

1013 Error

If so, then you're fine! The 1013 error just means that your baseband hasn't been updated. This happens if you are using TinyUmbrella, or have otherwise put a line in your hosts file to block or redirect the Apple update servers.

This error will put you into a restore loop, but just put your phone into DFU mode (greenpois0n can give you the countdown to put you into DFU correctly if you just launch it at this point) and run greepois0n. It'll kick you out of the restore loop!
