How to fix some mysterious problems.

Iphone 3gs 5.1(Tethered) Redsn0w

my phone just randomly restarted itself and the apple logo came on, while i was using it... so i plugged it in to the computer and did the usual just boot with redsn0w, but it got stuck on the pineapple logo for like 10 min. then went back to the apple logo... i tried this many times, i then gave up and decided to restore, but an error came up near the end of the restore saying the server could not be accessed at this time please try again later, so idk what to do... i then tried to rejailbreak it and after all the text on my iphone screen went through at the end it said... error!... i am very frustrated and afraid i can never get it to work again... PLEASE HELP!

i think maybe putting a 270 bullet through it would help

In situations like this, it would be best to try a different computer, if possible. If you can't, do you use TinyUmbrella or have you modified your hosts file? Are you on Mac or Windows?

Hardly seems like useful advice.

Sounds like your baseband chip is fried, exchange for a new one at Apple.

Try again, prolly was just an apple server glitch. Make sure you use a no_bb custom ipsw if you rely on unlock or have 6.15 baseband. Also make sure your host file is pointing to apple. No you do not need tinymbrella nor shsh since 5.1 is still being signed at the moment.

After a long presses of dealing with apple errors, i figured it out, i am now running 5.1 on my 3gs, jailbroken through redsn0w. everything works just fine, back to normal... i would highly suggest using aptbackup if you are using a jailbroken apple device... i was able to restore everything as if i didn't have this problem, other then the fact it took 2 days... i can also still use my hack i created so i don't pay for data with att, and yes it does work since i have been with this phone for 2 years... haha good luck if you run into this problem i had, a lot of computer smarts helped me out
