Uh, I don't think so. You mean it crashed WHILE it was upgrading? That sucks. So what's the state of things now?

It depends. At what stage did it crash? Meaning, did it say "Restoring iPhone software…" or "Restoring iPhone firmware"?

i meant days or weeks after the whole process, i have not actually updated it.i am thinking of doing it but am just scared because i have read from this site that his phone (unlocked with an updated bb) crashed and he could not restore it and i was not sure if he had his shsh saved.. can it not be restored even if the shsh is saved? thanks

When iPad baseband is installed, this currently cannot be undone. You might be stuck with it forever. When it crashes, you just reboot. It cannot be half-way installed. The worst case right now is that many users have lost their GPS functionality. So if you don't care of that and you really need an unlock right now, you can install it. Otherwise I would wait a few weeks until a new unlock comes out.

And just to add to this, @cholokoy15, please note that backing up your SHSH files helps you restore the iOS software, but not the baseband.

Correct. But to add, he has an iPhone 3G or 3GS and that doesn't have a separate SHSH check for the baseband. So backing up SHSH for the firmware is all he can do and would also allow to install the corresponding baseband (but no downgrade possible right now).
