What's the size of the iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw file? 654.6MB is what I get, just in case it's incomplete or something weird.

Also, are you restoring a backup from iTunes? Maybe something in there is corrupted?

Just some ideas.

You're asking how to find the size of a file? I'm talking about the size of the ipsw. You downloaded it before you could restore. Or if you let iTunes download it for you it should be on your HD.

Search for the file iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore

Are you on a mac, or PC?

On a Mac, this file will be in: /Users/<your_user_name>/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/

On Windows, the file will be in "Documents and Settings\<your_user_name>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates"
